House + Love = Home. This home belongs to my uncle and his lovely wife who commissioned this watercolor painting as a gift to him. (Now that the gift has been given I can post it!) My new year's resolution for 2016 has to do with my home. I hope to increase my expression of love for nature by improving the way my home harmonizes with the environment. This includes conducting an energy audit (at the EPA's Home Energy Yardstick) to see how I can decrease our carbon footprint, improving our windows, expanding the garden and maybe even installing solar panels!!! Happy 2016 Everyone!!! I wish you many blessings in the new year!

Grabbing my toes is a pastime that I sometimes miss. In Yoga, it's called "Happy Baby Pose" and if you can manage to still do it I think you'll see why. This young subject is a part of a commissioned painting I just completed for a Christmas gift, so it's not available. I just wanted to show what I'm up to this week. This selection of the painting is about 10 x 10 inches. I hope you get to enjoy this week with your loved ones...hugs to all! Is honey a by-product of rainbows? Aristotle may not have known present day science about honey production, but I do think that he was on to something when he made the hypothesis that honey precipitated from the air when rainbows descended. (Reference: A Short History of the Honey Bee by E. Readicker-Henderson, 2009.) "Bee balm" is an archival giclée print on high quality fine art paper that I had made from a high resolution scan of a watercolor I painted. It is 5 x 5 inches and is a part of an edition of 35 that I am looking to move out into the world! If you would like one for yourself or a loved one, it's yours this week for $15! Email me or comment on this post by Tues, Dec. 22nd. Free Shipping!!! My current muse. Making these terrariums has been soul-quenching. Looking at them, observing the plants, checking the moisture, seeing what they have to tell me...they are a joy. All of the terrariums I brought to the MamaCITA holiday show sold, so I went back to Primex the next day to get more supplies to make some for my house! "Little Aloe" is a 7 x 5 inch watercolor painting, and like the 30 in 30, is available for $30. Write a comment here if you are interested, then I'll email you. Scarlet geraniums are comforting according to the language of flowers. Today's return to watercolor is both a commissioned work and, as it turns out, a great comfort to me. I inherited two geranium plants yesterday from my grandparents who are now reunited in Heaven. "Scarlet Geranium" is 8 x 10 inches. |
