The joy of human interaction with nature is the idea behind the project I've been working on for some time. The visual narrative, sketched out almost a year ago then brewed on the back burner, is now pushing itself into bloom. I'm working full steam ahead on developed drawings and some color sketches, like this one.
"Pages 6 & 7" is about 4 x 10 inches.

If you look closely at the tiger swallowtail butterflies that are abundant these days in our part of Pennsylvania, you may notice that some have blue markings like this one. I just learned that this indicates that it is female.
I saw no less than four of these beautiful creatures today. Keep your eyes peeled! Rix Camp is in session, and my 6 year old daughter, Caitlyn, found a Red Spotted Purple butterfly during our field trip to the Pennypack Trail. I'd say her observation skills are pretty keen considering she spotted it while riding a bicycle!
